What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your City of Garland Utilities Bill

The City of Garland offers water, electric and trash services to residents of Texas. Customers can access accounts online to learn about past usage and make payments. There are a variety of contact numbers for the City of Garland and Garland Light and Power, the electric service provider.

How to Pay the Bill

Pay online: Customers can pay your City of Garland Utilities bill online at The payment processor for online payments is Western Union Speedpay. There is a $3.75 fee charged for paying your bill online. Western Union Speedpay accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, debit cards with a credit card logo or electronic check payments.

Pay by phone: Phone payments are accepted at 1-972-205-2671. Customers should press the number 2 when the call is answered. You will need to have your account number handy when paying by phone or online using Western Union Speedpay.

Pay in person: Garland Utilities offers two main locations for customers to make in person payments.

How the Penalty Fees Work

We were unable to locate the late payment fee or returned payment fees for the City of Garland Utilities. We do know of two fees charged by the city for new service.

Security deposit: $200 for electric, water and waste or $75 for water only

Account establishment fee: $30 added to your first bill

I requested a 3 day extension on my bill bc my hhusband is out of town and I am currently on bedrest in the hospital until my 2nd child arrives due to preganancy bleeding and I cant pay my electric bill until then and the city of garland would not grant me an extension at all. How can i get help to pay this bill that is due tomorrow?
